Park-like Setting

    Four lakes to choose from: Peninsula Lake, Fairy Lake, Vernon & Mary Lake. Pike, large & small mouth bass and lake trout are the main species. The public boat ramp is right beside the property.

TOPWINTER ACTIVITIES
Winter Fun
  • Outdoor facilities include lit skating rink and cross country ski trails when the lake is frozen.
  • Multitude of Snowmobile Trails, both local and Trans Ontario Provincial. We are located on Algonquin Snowmobile Club Trail 7 on the North shore of Peninsula Lake. Trans Ontario Provicial trail, C114, is right across the lake. Local marinas rent snowmobiles. (Baysville Marina (705) 767-3323 / South Portage Marina (705) 635-2440)
  • Cross Country Skiing at Arrowhead Provincial Park, Algonquin Provincial Park, Leslie M. Frost Centre, Grassmere, Deerhurst and Grandview. Rentals are available at Algonquin Outfitters.
  • The local Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding facility is Hidden Valley Highlands. They have 3 chairlifts (1 quad), 1 handle bar tow and 11 slopes. Night skiing Thursday to Saturday. Full line of rentals & lessons - 1-800-398-9555. Discounted lift tickets may be purchased at our resort.
  • For Downhill Tubing and Snowboarding in Huntsville contact "Rock Ridge Recreation Park" at (705) 788-7275
  • Local Winter Carnivals (visit the Dorset Snowball) start the last weekend of January and will continue throughout February.
  • Sometime in March, locals will have tours showing how sap is collected and made into Maple Syrup.

TOPAREA ATTRACTIONS
  • Golf:
    3-18 hole courses and 2-9 hole courses within a 15 minute drive.
  • Horseback Riding:
    The local stables offer 1 to 2 hours guided trail rides. Please note the stables require proper clothing & footwear. Reservations are required.
  • Boat Cruises:
    R.M.S. SEGWUN, one of the original Steamships of Muskoka, departs from Gravenhurst and cruises the Muskoka Lakes.
    The ISLAND QUEEN departs from Parry Sound and during the cruise will pass 30,000 islands in Georgian Bay.
    LADY MUSKOKA leaves from the Muskoka Riverside Inn in Bracebridge and tours along the Muskoka River. Highlights include Santa's Village, Millionaire's row, Beaumaris and historic sunken artifacts.
    TOUCH OF CLASS leaves from the town dock in Huntsville and cruises the local lakes.
  • Algonquin Provincial Park:
    We are 32 km (about a 20 minutes drive) from the West gate of the park.

    Just off Brunel road in Huntsville.
  • Dorset Lookout & Fire Tower:
    Located just north of Dorset on hwy 35. Fantastic view from either the bottom or top of the fire tower. Check out the Summer Village of Dorset.
    Some craft shops and Robinson's General Store.
  • Santa's Village:
    Located just north of Bracebridge, Santa's Village is FUN for everyone
